You had asked on my blog about what I didn’t like about 3.5 so here’s a short list. Mostly because my issues with the game are very broad.
1) Grappling: Not just grappling, but also tripping, sundering, bull rushes, ect. They never really were that helpful but someone always had to try it and it always ground combat to a halt. Do you have improved grapple, make a touch attack, now make a grapple check. So many commands and questions for one round I sometimes felt like this process required tech support.
2) The game tended to fall apart after 9th level or so. There was a sweet spot in the game which fell somewhere between levels 4-7. Before that you can’t do much, the game isn’t all that fun. After that encounters either become way too simple or way too hard. there seemed to be no middle ground.
3) If this weapon is traditional for my people why do I need to take a feat to wield it. There were also a lot of weapons and some armor that just seemed like it had no use.
4) Unbalancing issues. Wotc would release something new (i.e. Psions, weapon crystals, factotum, ect.) and some of it was way over powered. Either you’ve got a guy on your team who is way more powerful then the rest of the team, or it’s disallowed by the Dm and now you have a book you can’t use for much of anything.
My fiancée came up with a good one after I finished, she mentioned that it was hard to get new people involved with Dnd because character creation took so long the first time, that most people were bored of the game before they ever started. But she admits the extreme customization of 3.5 couldn’t have existed without this problem.
Oh and you mentioned your wiki, if you need any help with it Crystal Keephas a great index of most of 3.5′s things they’re worth a perusal.
Hi, Mugami, this is my first comment in your blog.
I have to tell you I’m sorry. We’re going to talk tomorrow. Sorry…one meeting with my clients has interrupted. I’m so sorry, Mugami.
When could you get chances to talk? It might be OK even next Thursday(Christmas eve in Japan). I’m waiting for you.
